The general car insurance ? is there a catch ?

Willis Liburd: The General is for people who are not insurable with other companies. The $39 is a "come on" to get you to talk to them. Betting your rate will not even be close to that. Maybe it's just me, but I don't do business with companies that have disclaimers (usually small and impossible to read) in their ads. You end up talking more about what they don't cover than what they do.

Giovanni Malool: They can use that $39 advertising because when the insurance ratings company evaluates each car insurance company (they do this by doing a ton of quotes and repeating them with each company) The General will pick the one instance where $39 came up as their premium. They also offer extra low down payment options... but the other payments are higher as a result. The small print will likely refer you to the specific quote they used. As to the company itself, they are rated A- by A.M. Best for Financial Stability. A- is good... but it's not great. I would try to stic! k with an A or A+ rated company....Show more

Oren Eskelsen: I don't believe that to be true

Shane Getler: that's only for the quote. and it's way more than 39 bux.

Antonia Quinnett: This is a terrible company to insure your vehicle with. The reason they are able to offer rates a little lower than competitors is because they deny almost every claim. The $39 might be just the down payment or for the first month or something. However, if you get into an accident good luck getting The General to pay.You will be better off paying and extra money a month and go with a reputable company....Show more
