Should I keep my car or get a minivan?

Queenie Ruthers: Okay, I want to get a minivan, as I need one for the room. I don't want a large SUV, minivans are better on gas. Anyway, I don't know if I should trade my car in on a minivan, or buy an older minivan out right. I have a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze that I purchased new, and it's a nice little car. It's good on gas, etc. I just need something bigger. Would it be better to keep the car for the work commute and buy a third vehicle (my car, my wife's car, and the van) or just trade it and have two vehicles?...Show more

Daria Verfaillie: I would say keep the car but I have had terrible luck with minivans as far as them spending too much time behind a tow truck, the only one I owned was a used chevy lumina van. My sister seemed pretty okay with her Honda Odyssey.The good thing about three cars is you have an extra if on goes into the shop for a long time the bad thing is Insuring and Parking an extr! a car. You might want to check mpg some minivans are bad on gas. I think my 2013 cruze takes noticeably more gas then the Corolla it replaced but has more room in the cab. If you live where you aren't plagued with car nazis or have a place to park it an extra car is not a bad idea. I keep wondering if the used pickup my business bought is worth the extra maintenance and insurance or if I would spend less just renting one four or five times a year when I have something to move that will not fit in a sedan....Show more

Kenneth Blacker: Maybe a small trailer for hauling stuff behind the Cruze ? Maybe rent the minivan for the few times you need more space ? If we could turn back time , you should have bought the minivan instead of the Cruze, but it is too late for that and any correction will be very expensive

Mayola Sylva: If you can get a good trade in on the Cruze than go for it. Perhaps your wife might like to have the Cruze then you could trade hers in on w! hat you want. Otherwise I would keep what you have unless you ! can swing having 3 vehicles.
