Sorry Gerry. This is the best I can find.

Is the National Humanities Medal America's answer to the OBEs and the
CBEs awarded in the UK?

I think they are awarded to people who have mad a valuable
contribution to society. It's not just for the Arts and high falutin
cultural stuff.

They are, I believe awarded to ordinary people. It could be in
recognition of someones charity fundraising, or someone who represents
a group of people whose job is important. A nurse, doctor, fireman
and etc. Just ordinary people doing their amazing best.

People like the Glasgow baggage handler John Smeaton who was awarded
the QGM (Queen's Gallantry Medal) for his bravery in dealing with the
attempted bombers at Glasgow Airport. There are a lot of famous
people who are awarded them. They may be actors or sportsmen and women
and etc. I think they are awarded in the Queens honours list
answers2: Nope, civilians won't be able to be offered the national
protection medal. Any fake verbal, written or actual declare to the
national protection service Medal, via somebody to whom it has no
longer been offered, is a federal legal offense punishable via as much
as six months in penitentiary and as much as a $5000 wonderful.
Civilans might nicely be offered some protection stress medals. they
are able to now be offered the Bronze famous individual Medal. To the
poster who reported John Wayne became offered the Congressional Medal
of Honor. No he wasn't. John Wayne became offered the: Presidential
Medal of Freedom
