what is the point of non-alchoholic drinks?

Raye Tredennick: It's to make the drinkers think the non-drinkers are drinking. I think it makes the drinkers assume the non-drinkers are drinking with them so they don't feel like they are left out. It's a psychological thing. If that made any sense. Lol

Boyce Gilhooly: think about it, when a little kid sees their parents drinking something that has alcohol in it and the adults are saying how good it is and everything, and then the parents get up to get something and the kid drinks it. So, if they pour the little kid some of the exact drink like a strawberry daiquiri they can pour the little kid some with out alcohol in it and they won't be tempted to sneak around and drink alcohol...thats just my thought =] so the kids c! an be involved also...Show more

At the time or even in general.2) Some people can not drink alcohol for various reasons, health, Religious, are a recovering alcoholic etc.3) Some people may not want to drink alcohol because they have to drive some place, because they may not want a hang over in the morning etc.4) Some may not want to drink for social reasons. Such as a work related event in this case most people like to drink something without alcohol in order to avoid weird social situations that can occur when people are drunk.5) Alcohol is very high in sugar and empty calories some people may be on a diet and alcohol is never part of a diet plan. Some may allow for a wine now and again but certainly ! not much and not very often.6) Some people are under age 21 an! d can not drink alcohol by law.7) Some people have drunks in their family and would just assume not follow that (often destructive) path....Show more

Ezekiel Kadner: Non-alcoholic drinks do contain alcohol....albeit the alcoholic content is very limited. I agree it seems frivolous to drink non-alcoholic drinks. However, some people may drink non-alcoholic drinks for social reasons...they might just want to fit in or simply like the taste.
