whay is poetry considered a form of art?

Robt Betker: How do you not express yourself in narrative poetry? You're using YOUR words to describe something, either fictional or not. That's like saying, paintings about epic events are not art...How is poetry NOT art? A painting is made with 3 different colours, blended together by a brush. A poem is made with 26 different colours -- called letters, in the English language -- blended together by the mind. Each can portray any scene just as vividly as the other, but a painting has limits that writing does not! For example, a painting shows us only a part of a scene, that is still; and it also determines all visual characteristics thereof. Writing can show anything, in motion, and not just what is limited to things we can see or draw. Writing also leaves most visual aspects of a scene to our own definition. If anything, therefore, poetry is more an art than painting is....Show more

Clemmie Burkleo: Poetry is like music it moves you.Poetry has many forms and style! s like music. Some poems just are so harsh like hard rock. Some poems are smooth and contempory like jazz. Some poems are just simple filled with love and depression like R&B.Whatever your style of music is you can always find a style of poetry that just moves you.And most music nowadays wouldn`t be music without poetry! Asley Quickle: For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/aw5Am1) To make it an art form, you must be an artist. 2) To make it a philological creation, you must be a scholar of Arts (Not Economy schools). (Taking into account that you have talent). 3) But to make it an extension of science (which a few in here try to do) by applying Laws of the Nature/Universe around us to it, you have to be a scientist for sure! An educated scientist. Sciences are Math, Physics, Chemistry, and of course Engineering. When you have talent to write poetry, you have received classical knowled! ge (which never ends of course), and subsequently you apply yo! ur scientific knowledge concerning the laws of Nature (those you know), then you may produce a masterpiece. (You may, I said)....Show more

Lucille Saetteurn: Is Poetry Art

Branden Roddick: Good question. A poem can rhyme or not, can be fiction or non-fiction, can be biography, or more like a dream. It is within the craft of the writer, to write, rewrite and correct completely and sometimes tear the whole thing up and start over. Poetry is therapy. I have used my poetry to heal myself, to reveal myself, to revel in my triumphs and to drown and die in my tragedies, my responsibilities. Poetry has taken me to new understandings, to revelations and epiphanies that are not just shocking, but also life threatening, to the point of absolute paralysis of the senses. Plato, I know, he didn't want to include poetry and poets in the closed circuit of his Republic, wrongfully, though some may disagree with both of us. All those things and more, make poetry an art for! m. I might add that I believe a poet resides in every heart, sometimes in a dark corner of empty space and sometimes behind a simple latch gate. The music and sounds that poetry makes belong to the author, until shared, or foisted upon an unfriendly audience. But those same sounds make poetry beautiful or sad, melancholy or manic, and as the story continues, the holy ground from which poetry comes sprouts eternal....Show more

Hunter Osterberger: What about Narrative poetry? you don't express yourself in an epic.

Cletus Makler: Because it's a way of expressing ones self. It's like painting with words.Sure you can express yourself in narrative poetry...the theme of your poem is decided by you, the way you write it, the creativity it involves, its all expression
