Why monopolies in certain markets?
Clemmie Burkleo: It's the natural tendency of markets to degenerate into monopolies. A lot is said about the virtue of competition in a free market, in other words, but the fact is that the players don't necessarily want to compete. Competition is hard. If they can monopolize the market, they can avoid the need for competition. Therefore they tend to work in that direction, and therefore monopolies tend to be created. And once they're created, they're very difficult to get rid of. Monopolies would be a lot more prevalent in pretty much all markets, if it weren't for the efforts of people outside the markets to break monopolies down....Show more
