Why is the skin on the palm of your hands lighter than the rest of your skin?

answers1: Lack of melanin...just like the soles of your feet.
answers2: That's the way God designed humans. If you think about it,
the inner parts of the hands are exposed to more germs than any other
part of the body. Nevertheless,,, that's a very good question.
answers3: The color of human skin is is mainly due to a substance
called melanin present in the skin. Melanin provides varying degrees
of brown coloration at the skin surface. Hemoglobin present in the
blood also contributes to the color of the skin. <br>
Melanin is not present in the palm of the hand hence it is lighter in
color. More the melanin in the skin, more the color will be dark.
answers4: I don't know. Perhaps the palms of your hands get less sun,
or mechanical wear depletes pigments? Maybe it is genetic, though I
can't think why there would be such an adaption. A good question.
